A few pointers are all that one needs.

1.         Remember to use the supplies, needles and syringes only one time.

2.         Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the top of the medication bottle.

3.         Remember to warm the syringe, when it's full, to body temperature.

4.         Don't rush------slowly inject the medication.

FIRST:      Get all the supplies out in the same area.

You will need: A new syringe

                         Injectable medication

A cotton ball, with alcohol, or an alcohol wipe

                         A dry cotton ball

SECOND:    Clean the top of the medication bottle with the cotton ball with alcohol

THIRD:       Remove the syringe from its package and draw the plunger back to the

                     ____cc mark.

FOURTH:    Remove the needle cover and insert the needle into the medication bottle.

FIFTH:        Press the plunger in, air will enter the bottle.

SIXTH:        Pull back on the plunger slowly and fill the syringe just past the _____cc mark.

SEVENTH:  Tap the syringe to get any air to the top and press the plunger to the  ____  cc mark.

EIGHT:        Withdraw the needle from the medication and replace the needle cover.

NINTH:       Pick the area ,on the leg or where instructed for the injection, and clean the site with the cotton that has been dipped in alcohol(or alcohol wipe) and allow to dry fully.

TENTH:      Take the cover off the needle and hold the skin taught

ELEVEN:    With a darting motion insert the needle to its end.

TWELVE:      PULL BACK ON THE PLUNGER AND CHECK FOR BLOOD OR AN AIR BUBBLE. IF BLOOD IS PRESENT REMOVE THE NEEDLE.

If an air bubble is present, slowly proceed to depress the plunger.

THIRTEEN:                           When all the liquid in the syringe is injected, quickly withdraw the needle and place the dry cotton ball on the area.
